My Musical Journey
Musical compositions are composed of a multitude of elements working in collaboration to produce various lyrical sounds. The heightening of musical appreciation and adoration steams from the development of practical and theoretical skill level. Music pedagogy is defined as the development of music education through the examination of various concepts and terminology within a classroom. Musical educators become responsible for igniting academics passion towards discovering the enlightening power which music encapsulates. For students of music to better appreciate the development and production of different sounds the establishment of background knowledge is fundamental. The deconstruction of the process for creating a piece of music enhances academics overall understanding. When individuals examine the strenuous work required to establish an enjoyable melody their level of interest as well appreciation may heighten. Over the course of the weeks our classroom sessions have modelled different examples of instruction and activities which can be incorporated into the classroom. Our classroom activities greatly assisted in my own personal knowledge on what constitutes effective instructional practises. Additionally my overall knowledge and understanding of how to teach differs theoretical components significantly enhanced. If instructors do not effectively educate academics on the components of music their level of interest may greatly decrease. I have gained an abundant amount of confidence and skill level with my ability to instruct and educate others throughout our course. I recognize the necessity of teaching the basic concepts to academics as it assists in their overall level of knowledge. Similar to other curricular subjects educators cannot expect that students will have basic practical and theoretical understanding. As a result they are responsible for laying the foundation of knowledge so that their ability to succeed becomes plausible.
Throughout my developmental journey music had been heavily engrained into my way of living which has allowed me to develop a strong adoration and appreciation for it. I have studied the art of piano, with the Royal Conservatory of Music, since the age of three which significantly impacted the way in which I perceive sound, life and those around me. Music theory and practise has significantly contributed to my psychological and emotional development for I gained skills and confidence I did now know I once had. As a student passionate of music, I had the opportunity to teach others the art of piano which enhanced my dedication and passion for the arts. The journey through this course provided me with the opportunity to learn a multitude of instructional strategies and approaches that can be utilized within the classroom to make me a better leader. Throughout my endeavours as a piano instructor I have created a multitude of instructional lessons and activities to develop students theoretical and practical knowledge. However the activities are mostly theoretically based and do not incorporate an element of “fun” which is something which I recognize is essential to increase students level of interest and success. This course has significantly enhanced my ability to produce innovative, educational activities which include theoretical components, essential to improving individuals overall understanding. Additionally I have gained the confidence which I once lacked to lead a larger group of individuals. I am no longer nervous to teach others the knowledge which I hold but instead inspired to share what I have learned. As well, I have also grown as a music educator in the sense that I have a better understanding of how to engage student interest. I recognize my strengthens and weaknesses and can aim at bettering myself to provide effective instructional lessons for future students. I recognize that it is acceptable to be worried about guiding learners but instead of becoming discouraged this course has given me the confidence to better improve my skill level.
As a current and future educator of music I will continue to share my passion and love for music with my students. My musical growth through the duration of this course has increased my desire to one day act as a future musical instructor. I recognize the importance of inspiring student interest in order to demonstrate the power which music holds. For many academics learning a musical instrument may appear unappealing, redundant and impossible therefore educators must take the time to work together with their students to guide and feed their passion. I definitely for see myself acting as an educator of music as I want to demonstrate to others how influential music can become in their every day way of living. Participating in this course significantly heightened my intentions about one day becoming a future music instructor as I have gained the skill and confidence level to guide others around me. Music has an abundant amount of both personal and academic benefits. When individuals allow music to be integrated into their every day lives they enrich both their interpretation and understanding of the world around them. Music is something which has the captivating power to strengthen and guide individuals in times of need. As an educator we become the most important figures in our academics lives therefore we must assists them in times of darkness and need. By demonstrating to students the power of music we give them an outlet to turn to when feeling alone and distraught. Music enhances individuals morals and sense of value which is essential for an academics ability to succeed.
